Stay Cool, Save Energy

Household air conditioners are becoming commonplace in Bangkok. Our campaign aims to raise awareness about optimal air conditioning temperature settings in the community. The ideal air conditioner setting is often unknown by not only Thais but also foreigners. It is clear to us that promoting energy conservation holds importance in Bangkok's tourism industry. As a tourism-oriented country, Thailand attracts a large number of visitors to Bangkok throughout the year, and as a result, their electricity consumption during their stay cannot be overlooked. We encourage visitors to set their air conditioning temperature in their accommodation between 25 and 28°C for the perfect balance of comfort and energy conservation. The contemporary air conditioning systems feature digital screens for setting room temperatures, often leading people to make adjustments without careful consideration.

In contrast, air conditioners from the 1980s to the 1990s were equipped with rectangular operational panels on the wall. Users set temperatures by moving a knob vertically along the panel to the desired temperature. Additionally, the temperature range of 26-28°C was highlighted in blue, while the remaining temperatures were displayed in black.

This simple design subtly influenced users to set temperatures within that highlighted range. We are actively engaging accommodations to partner with us in promoting energy conservation by placing stickers next to AC remote controls or distributing flyers to guests during check-in, encouraging them to maintain room temperatures between 25 and 28°C. This initiative is also advantageous for hosts, as saving electricity translates to cost savings. Save energy and energy will save you.
